The pressures in your world
Palma and Antibes are the interior's home dock
EUThe Palma International Boat Show and the Monaco and Cannes Yacht Shows structure the interior's calendar as much as the season itself, and Palma alone hosts thousands of crew ashore between charters. The confidentiality-safe workflow the training builds is the one the crew mess is already discussing informally.
The preference sheet holds special-category data
EUUnder GDPR Article 9 a single dietary line can reveal a health condition or a religious belief, and at that moment it is special-category data with the highest bar for lawful processing. Pasting the sheet into a public tool for a quick brief crosses that bar in the same keystroke.
AI literacy is already a duty on the vessel

Training green crew again, mid-season, every season
Junior crew turnover averages 37 percent a year, and replacing a single stewardess costs €10,000 to €20,000. The chief stew carries that number twice: she absorbs the workload of the gap, and she re-trains the replacement while the season keeps running. The higher the tips, the shorter juniors tend to stay.
The interior carries the heaviest of the season
Stews and chefs report the lowest mood ratings of any department aboard, and 64 percent of female crew say their mental health declined after joining the industry. Admin that starts when the guests sleep
Inventories, provisioning, budgets, preference sheets, SOPs, uniform stock and training records, most of it still in spreadsheets and email even where Voly-class systems exist. What AI is already doing
European interior training is already structured: the IAMI GUEST programme is delivered through providers in Palma, Antibes and the UK, and senior crew self-fund four-figure credentials up to the purser units, so a short structured course with a verifiable certificate is a familiar format on the Med dock. No provider's catalogue lists a crew AI course as of July 2026. The confidentiality-safe workflows the training installs read the same in Palma as in Fort Lauderdale, and the European addition is the legal frame around them: the preference sheet is special-category data under GDPR, and the AI Act now asks that the crew using AI tools be trained on them.
